Bruce Springsteen Cancels September Tour Dates Due to Health Concerns

Bruce Springsteen has made the difficult decision to cancel all remaining tour dates scheduled for the month of September. In a statement posted on his social media accounts, the iconic musician revealed that he is currently battling peptic ulcer disease, a medical condition that has prompted his doctors to recommend taking the entire month off for necessary treatment.

The statement officially confirmed the postponement of all September 2023 performances, beginning with the upcoming show originally slated for tomorrow at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, NY. The decision to delay these shows was made in accordance with medical advice, prioritizing Springsteen’s health and well-being.

Bruce Springsteen, accompanied by the E Street Band, expressed his sincere regret for the postponements in a heartfelt apology. He acknowledged the disappointment this news may bring to his dedicated fans and promised to make amends. Springsteen conveyed his gratitude for the continued support and understanding of his audience and assured them that he and the band would return to the stage as soon as possible.

These recent postponements follow Bruce Springsteen’s absence from two Philadelphia shows on August 16 and 18, which were initially attributed to an undisclosed illness. Those Philadelphia concerts were rescheduled for August 21 and 23, 2024. Despite these setbacks, Springsteen had been actively touring, delivering performances lasting up to three hours, including concerts at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium from August 30 to September 3, marking a triumphant return to the stage after an extended hiatus.

Fortunately, Bruce Springsteen has ample time for recovery, as he had already scheduled the month of October as a break in his tour. The next performance on his calendar is set for November 3 in Vancouver, BC, followed by a tour that will take him and the E Street Band across Canada and the west coast, culminating in a planned finale in San Francisco on December 12.

For those holding tickets to the postponed shows, Bruce Springsteen’s website will provide updates regarding rescheduled dates. The affected concerts are as follows:

  • Thursday, September 7 – Syracuse, NY @ JMA Wireless Dome
  • Saturday, September 9 – Baltimore, MD @ Oriole Park at Camden Yards
  • Tuesday, September 12 – Pittsburgh, PA @ PPG Paints Arena
  • Thursday, September 14 – Pittsburgh, PA @ PPG Paints Arena
  • Saturday, September 16 – Uncasville, CT @ Mohegan Sun Arena
  • Tuesday, September 19 – Albany, NY @ MVP Arena
  • Thursday, September 21 – Columbus, OH @ Nationwide Arena

Bruce Springsteen and his team remain committed to bringing his music and energy back to the stage once he has fully recovered, and they are eager to provide updates to fans awaiting his return.
