Taylor Swift Enthusiasts Overwhelm AMC App While Purchasing 'Eras Tour' Movie Tickets

Commencing October 13, all U.S. AMC Theatre locations are set to showcase the movie. The fervent support of Swifties for Taylor Swift reached such heights that it overwhelmed an entire app.

Following the surprise announcement that Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert would be transformed into a movie, fans inundated the AMC app in their quest to purchase tickets, resulting in a site crash. According to Collider, the app issued a message, explaining that online reservations were temporarily unavailable due to the high volume of traffic. It directed prospective ticket buyers to visit their local AMC Theatre in person.

Billboard reached out to AMC for additional details. Earlier in the day, the company informed The Hollywood Reporter, “AMC is also aware that no ticketing system in history seems to have been able to accommodate the soaring demand from Taylor Swift fans when tickets are first placed on sale. Guests wanting to be the first to buy their tickets online may experience delays, longer-than-usual ticket-purchase waiting-room times, and possible outages. AMC is committed to ensuring any delays or outages are addressed as quickly as possible.”

As per a release, starting October 13, each U.S. AMC Theatre location will screen the movie at least four times a day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Ticket prices are set at $19.89 plus tax for adults and $13.13 plus tax for children and seniors (except for AMC’s branded premium large-format screens.) The film will be available in AMC theaters across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with tickets already on sale.

Taylor Swift herself shared a trailer for the film, expressing, “The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far, and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon. Starting October 13th, you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now at [link]. Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing, and dancing encouraged. 1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (if you know, you know).”
